Ya I have a compulsive counting thing - like if I'm staking firewood I have to count each piece or if I'm pulling weeds I have to count each weed I pull. One of my favorite TV series is Monk its about a guy who solves crimes in San Fransico he has a lot of compulsive habits but sometimes they help him solve the crime Cheers!

I've seen a few episodes of MONK and felt sorry for him. He has a few more than I do. So you have a compulsion to count? Does it ever get in the way of anything and become a burden to you? Would you count the number of beans in a bag of dried beans? Or the number of peas on your plate if you are served them? Does it occur automatically so that you are rarely aware of it? I'm very compulsive about NEVER BEING LATE. I'd rather be there an hour early and sit in the car on the street and wait till it's time then be ONE MINUTE LATE. I can get nauseated if I think I'm going to be late. I have nightmares about being late. I have no idea where that comes from and it is physically very unpleasant for me. Also I'm a pain in the arse to Jim. I moan and groan and kvetch all the way to wherever we are going and honestly I cannot remember a single time we've ever been late for anything. But the compulsive rules me nevertheless. Are you interested in switching compulsions Nanoose? I'd like to try out the counting and you're more than welcome to try out mine! Thank you for your reply and Happy Wednesday! :)

Yep.  For me, everything has to be 100% "perfect".  It's taken a lot of therapy, but I'm finally to the point now where I'm able to allow some imperfection without going insane trying to "fix" it.

Oh sweetie my Jim is precisely like that. I call it an "engineer's brain". He wants everything to operate at its optimum best level all the time and when it doesn't he not only notices it but it upsets him. I'm so not that way. If it works adequately to do what I need it to do I'm very happy. I think it's a hardship being the way he is because there is almost always something wrong with something and so he goes through life noticing all the weeds and the warts while I'm oblivious to them unless he points them out. And even then I don't care. I think that annoys him because I think he'd like me to care as much as he does but I just don't. I can't fake it. Condolences to you. I'm happy that you are able to give yourself a little wiggle room. You're young enough still for it to "take". Jim is going to be 84 soon. For him well I think it's kinda too late for that! Thank you for your reply! :)
