Why do we kill people for killing people to show that killing people is wrong?

I've thought the same thing for a long time.

I've yet to hear an explanation that makes a lot of sense to me.

Maybe it’s fair to start with the archaic belief systems most people subscribe to:

Exodus 21:24
Deut 17:7
Quran 2:178-179

“God“ recommends it.

I say the same thing about parents who think it makes since to punish their children for hitting by hitting them. Stupidity. Violence begets violence. 

Because it is too expensive to house and feed them and too dangerous to innocent people to release them,
