Yes. Because my cat can't seem to find his "indoor voice".  He meows are  so loud they'll wake the dead. (I may make it out in peace, but I sure hear about it when I get back) This post was edited by Shuhak at September 24, 2019 9:23 PM MDT

Get a leash and take him along.

I have birds. If they have food and water I can take a hike for weeks and they could care less.  They keep each other company and have the run of the house. I am probably in their way when I am home.

    Yes.

My prior dog loved to go on car rides and she was accustomed to hopping in the van with us when I'd take the kids to school. She'd see them get their backpacks and race to the door, excited to be going along. If I was stopping somewhere else after dropping the kids off, I'd try to get out the door without her knowing. She made such sad faces when she'd get left behind.

Our new dog barks and whines when we leave, so I try to exit quietly and don't let him see our bags. He doesn't expect to go along, but he gets sad when his humans leave.

No.  I have no pets right now but I've never let the pets be in charge.
