Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Is your brain always in gear or do you prefer to set it on AUTOMATIC so you can sit back, relax, enjoy the ride? Why?
Always in gear, even when kickin' back. I like to observe. I trash TV shows/movie when they make mistakes. I watch bird behaviour when hanging out on the porch. I watch weather patterns and, of course, I come here.
I need medicine to relax. If take the medicine and relax, I am on the same level as most revved up folks. If I do not, I am all over the place emotionally and cannot function as well, to put it mildly.
Sweetie if you have a medical condition and need to take medicine to MITIGATE its deleterious effects join the group. I take a statin to lower cholesterol and a diuretic to mitigate retention of water. It helps keep me alive so I'm grateful for it. I am slow to take meds to mitigate pain. I am terrified of being hooked on something. I never take meds to sleep or for any other reason. I'm lucky. I don't have a lotta conditions that require it. I could function without them but then mebbe I'd die so I don't want to take that chance. In the olden days before these meds can you imagine what life must have been like? Thank you for your reply Sharon! :)
You are just like my mom was. She would never take any pain pills but she really had to take other things that kept her going. But I hope the statin is not like coumadin as far as side effects. It made her so anxious. She really did need something to calm her, but because of her heart condition I was afraid to introduce anything to her, because I did not want to hurt her. Do not die. PLEASE. Until you find a better solution, thank GOD you have that. It gave my mom more life, the stuff she was on, I am grateful for that part.
Life in the old days was much easier because we did not have to worry about taking pain pills because we were eating good food and not buying cancer causing chemically laced garbage, we had clean non-polluted air, we had fresh soil and if we killed and ate an animal it was not rife with carcinogens and hormones. And don't get me started on the water and the fish.
SO, they had it far easier.

That's one side of the coin Sharon. The other side is doctors were promoting the health benefits of smoking cigarettes. Construction workers thought nothing about using ASBESTOS in ceilings as insulation. Both are carcinogenic. So every coin has two sides. Why I fear being hooked? Years ago when I had a weight problem I took diet pills prescribed by my doctor. They were amphetamines apparently. After I'd lost the weight the doc said I no longer needed them. I told him they gave me "energy" and I'd just as soon prefer to keep taking them. Of course he stopped authorizing it and I CRASHED! It took two weeks to feel normal and that experience I can never forget. Once burned twice shy. Thank you for your reply! :)
