throw it the fire
I would take out the battery, smash the phone to smithereens and throw the pieces into the river.
You would follow protocol and turn your government-issued phone back in to the department that issued it to you in the first place. You would also follow protocol and not use personally-owned communications devices for government business, secured or otherwise. That's the same policy that most private-sector companies follow.
Hello Red:
Wrong.. Buzzz... Protocol IS to bust the phone into little pieces BEFORE you turn it in.
excon
Neither. I'd follow government protocol. I'm sure there is a procedure on destroying and disposing of the cell phones.
Where do you find that protocol?
Agree!
Hello S:
It's SECRET. That's all I'll say about that.. What I WILL say, is that I was in the INTELLIGENCE division aboard the destroyer pictured below. That's me on the foc'sl.
excon
PS> (edited) I MUST give a shoutout to my friend and fellow Intelligence Division shipmate, Element above..
Ah, no; you're wrong, as usual.
The device is turned in intact so that it's pedigree can be verified (don't want someone pulling a swap-out). Then it's run through a shredder that pulverizes it, just like with documents that are disposed of. (I remember that shredder at State in operation, just a black powder came out the other side, damn impressive . . .)
What's the name of that boat and where is it now?
Hello again, Red:
That boat is the USS Robert K. Huntington. It's probably in your cupboard right now.. It's the can with beans in it.
Where did YOU serve this great nation of ours?? Or do you have bone spurs? Bwa, ha ha ha ha..
excon
I think that it was turned into Yugos a long time ago, not worthy of becoming bean cans.
And no, unlike you I didn't end up mopping the head next to the radio room of a navy boat.
Hello again, Red:
I thought only lefty's denigrated somebody's service... No, huh? So, even though you didn't thank me for mine, you're welcome.. The truth is, I did it for you.. I did it for your right to badmouth me. I'd do it again, too.
Now, it's true, I COULD have been swabbing the decks.. INSTEAD, when Kennedy called my ship to the blockade of Cuba, I went. I COULD have been washing bulkheads, but INSTEAD I was in Combat Information Center searching for Russian ships carrying nuclear missiles bound for Cuba..
I COULD have been doing something else. INSTEAD I decided to protect your way of life. Aren't you glad I did?

Give it to Hillary she will wipe it clean with a cloth.
Smash it with a hammer.
Now that you have blown the whistle on me, I have to give up my "burn before reading" clearance
Navy should always be capitalized and it was a ship. Submarines are called boats.
