Wow D! That's the opposite of me. I had my first "boss" during Christmas vacation when I was 14! My parents friends owned a clothing store and I "worked" for them building boxes in the back room. Never had to deal with customers which was definitely my cuppa tea. I was so proud! I could contribute something to the household. I gave my paycheck to my mom both weeks and she gave me my usual allowance and thanked me. Honestly it made me feel so good. Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday to thee! :)

Your remembering "way back when" you were seventeen is a lot shorter distance than my remembering way back when I was 14. Yet the memories are so clear! Every day at my lunch break when I had that job I'd walk a couple of blocks to Curries Ice Cream Parlor and order THE SAME THING EVERY DAY. I am not joking. A tuna sandwich and a strawberry shake. You know why? It was my goal to be able to walk in say "the usual" and I'd get the tuna sandwich and the shake. In movies the private eye would go into the bar and the bartender would ask "the usual"? and the private eye would say "yes". For some reason that really caught my fancy. It never happened for me. I got a different waitress each time and so no one recognized me! Now it's a joke between Jim and me. Funny what you remember. Thank you for your reply D and Happy Saturday to thee! :)

The smallest deeds give so much pleasure aRosie....you were just role playing and living out your fantasy ....
I kind of do that daily still. Lol

You know what D? That is PRECISELY what I was doing! Living out a fantasy but that never occurred to me. And still after all these years every time I hear that line in a movie I giggle and Jim giggles too! You're right. It provides so much pleasure. It doesn't take much to make me happy. AHA! Here comes another question sweetie! :) Thank you for your reply m'dear! :)

Yes I did.  I take everything personally.
I felt their impression of themselves and of me would never live up to their expectations because nobody could be as cool as he thought he was and nobody as handsome or as pretty.
Looking back, he was rather handsome on the outside but his ego and self-absorbed righteousness made him ugly.
    It really did.
It is too bad because he would have been a knock out if he would have thought of others and their feelings instead of just his own.
We both never saw eye-to-eye on matters and my eyes normally went home in tears.
I think he hired me because he thought I would add to the scenery.  I was so proud to have a job at 15 with my worker's permit, it never occured to me why I got the job.
At 15 you don't think of things like that.  My mom and dad saw right through this shananigan and I put in my two-weeks notice, 4 weeks after I got the job.
It was all for the better because I wasn't really legal to do the job I was hired for.
My parents thought I was as a hostess for the restaurant.  I was also hired to work as hostess in the bar which I wasn't old enough to do.

I'm sorry that you have such a memory at the tender age of 15 Merlin. Of course your being underage in a job that you were not old enough to do LEGALLY was not your fault but the fault of the restaurant owners. I don't know what the penalty for that would be but it would be all on them! Still I know the feeling of pulling your own weight. Working! It gives you status in your own eyes and also the feeling that you're a "grown up" or at least on the edges of it. The memories of that time should be unblemished and sparkling. Mine are. I was lucky. I wasn't confronted with an egotistical SOB no-nothing boss until I was in my 30's! Thank you for sharing your experience with us and hopefully all future jobs have been much more positive for you. Happy Sunday! :)
