Because he is exposing the crookedness of both parties  and neither side can take it.

What is who you define as the party? I am a democrat but I do not support her. I know the party officials who conspired for her and who work to hide her faults support her but they do not represent me. No one who steals a nomination (which she could have won simply by being decent person) represents me.

Republicans have a big problem finding somebody who is sleazy enough to be president. Look at the record for the last 88 years:

Herbert Hoover March 4, 1929 – March 4, 1933 NO BUSH, NO NIXON
    Ike January 20, 1953 – January 20, 1961 VP Richard Nixon
    Richard Nixon January 20, 1969 – August 9, 1974
    Ronald Reagan January 20, 1981 – January 20, 1989 VP George H. W. Bush
    George H. W. Bush January 20, 1989 – January 20, 1993
    George W. Bush January 20, 2001 – January 20, 2009

It was 1928 the last time the GOP won without a Nixon or a Bush on the ticket. Trump is goofy, but he's not sleazy.

Because his main supporters are the people old-time Conservatives thought democracy would inevitably lead to. A mob of illiterate voters who invariably vote for lower taxes and more support for themselves. Mob rule. That is the demographic he has been aiming for, and that is what he has got. Tea partyers etc.

He was never the GOPs favorite candidate, and lately it has only become worse.
