For those of you with college degrees,

in retrospect, what would have been (might have been) easier methods for obtaining either the degree(s) or the education you received than the methods you  actually went through?

Not doing it while rearing two children and working full time.

Having someone else pay for it and not as a loan.
Deciding on a degree and not changing my mind half way through.
Actually paying attention to what was going on in my mind and not what was going on around me.
There were a few professors I would have liked to pounce and a few I would have liked to punch.  I would have benefited more if I listened to what they were teaching and not their "style" or style of teaching.
Not having to worry about rent and working late at the bar to make ends meet.
Having a car that I could rely on.
Learning how to take notes correctly and/or learning shorthand.

In these times of social promotion, diploma mills, grade fixing and bribing ones way into prestigious schools, it should be highlighted that having a diploma or degree, and actually getting the education are not automatically synonymous. Just saying.

    To your Q-
Although I initially entered college on a scholarship, it wasn’t a full ride, and it would’ve been easier to have had the balance of my tuition pre-paid.

It sure would’ve been easier and shorter if I wasn’t completing my masters while serving in the US Army.
It would also have been easier to have been able to focus exclusively on my business degree if I wasn’t already working in business.
Nothing worth doing is easy. Or so they say.

    In my view, none.
There's no substitute for doing the work.
It's the research, reading, thinking and discussions with others about the subject that produces the learning.

Financial support for a student's basic needs to give them the time to study is essential.
But it's still possible to achieve the same in double the time if studying and working part-time.

Randy the easier way would not to have joined the Corps.  The Corps paid for my undergrad and graduate degrees. I have never regretted standing on those yellow footprints.

I would not trade either the Corps or my degrees.  The Corps showed me a lot including who I am. You may disagree, however I have no regrets.  Three major deployments and a number of smaller ones just for my bachelors, masters , and PHD. I think it was an even up trade off

How about those of us with four?

Oh GOD I could've been way more organized. SO much better would I have been.  But NO. I have to do things the hard way.  If the material does not go in?  After I read it?   I take the test and flunk it and then take it again.  That is what I wound up doing for the past 3 years.  I swear.  I'm practical. I have to take these insane tests constantly and they are loaded with stuff I don't have time to cram for.  Not when I am this busy.  AND OLD. You cannot believe what I don't absorb.  I used to be able to read things once and it was IN MY BRAIN.

NOW?  LOL I cannot even remember who my clients are after I work on them.  OLD AND SENILE THAT'S ME. But I am the eternal student.  I cannot escape school ever.

You would think I would have it down by now.  Just because I have degrees, doesn't mean I'm smart.   This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at October 29, 2019 11:04 PM MDT
