Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» I'm antiquated and outdated. I still write checks. I don't buy online. I am a hands-on shopper. Know any others like that? You possibly?
I'm 82 m2c. How old is your mom? Maybe it's a generational thing. However at the market I NEVER SEE anyone else writing checks...even folks who look older than me. They are all using debit cards and punch in numbers and that's that. I can hear the huffing and puffing as I write my check as if it is taking so long. It kinda ticks me off and it makes me nervous. I try to write as fast as I can to shut them up but you know there is a limit. Anyway so your mom is a debit card user too? Maybe I am the last person alive in America who writes checks. No. Wait. Jim writes checks too. So there are at least two of us! Thank you for your reply m2c! :)
She could be my daughter so you could be my granddaughter. From my point of view there is no difference in our ages between thee and me. I not gonna speak for you but I think that is quite remarkable. I don't like change. I expect most people don't but I REALLY HATE IT. Unless I initiate I want things to stay as they are. I loved WINDOX XL. I had to adjust to WINDOW 7 which I don't like as much but I know I'm gonna HATE WINDOWS 10 because no one who has likes it that I've talked to about it. Stuff like that. Anyway thank you for your reply! I shall keep writing until I die. :)

Some people are very open like me. Others are very closed. You know a lot more about me than I know about you sweetie. Same with other long-time internet pals. I don't know the names of their mates or kids or where they live. Stuff like that. Different strokes. Oh yesterday we went to Winco and I looked for that seasoned coating. They don't carry it. Tuesday we go to Walmart so I will look there. Now did you ever just coat what you're cooking and braise it or pan-fry it or have you always only ever used it for deep frying? Thank you for your reply and Happy Friday to thee m2c. You know maybe it goes by a different name. We used Best Foods light mayo. When I moved to Massachusetts there was no Best Foods but there was Hellman's and guess what? They are the same. Why the brand name is different I have no idea. So maybe the coating is available here but under a different name?
Geez thanks. Under the same name? Cool. So we could be cooking side by side across the country in our respective kitchens the exact same thing! That is very cool. My friend from Answerbag Elizabeth and I chat several times a month. She goes to her Sprouts in Texas and I go to mine in California and we compare notes..what's on sale. I JUST LOVE THE INTERNET for that! Happy Friday to thee m2c! :)
We'll go Tuesday. So does it have a fish version and a chicken version or is just one coating suitable for anything? Thanks for the info m2c. I have it on my list for Walmart for Tuesday. Oh Boy! :)
Don't know if it's generational, Rosie. My mom will be 88 in December. She drives her own Mercedes Benz SUV, has an IPhone, and emails, shops, and banks online with her MacBook Pro.
AARRGGHH! Okay. Then it's just me. Good to know our generation also includes nifty gals like your mom! Thanks for the share. It lifts my spirits even though I cannot relate at all to her! :)

That's a very good thing Stu. I take it she is in good health. So am I and twice blessed for it. The only condition I "suffer from" is getting older. That's it. No constant pain. Sporadic attacks of arthritis here and there always short-lived. My Jim and my baby sister both have VERY BAD BACKS and are always in pain. I feel so bad for them. Thanks for the share about your mom! I admire her a lot but have no wish to emulate her! Happy Friday! :)
I usually only buy things online like repair and replacement parts that are very expensive at the stores. I would NEVER use those online food shopping stores. I did buy a couple of pairs if Dickie's pants online as I could no longer find them in stores.
You should try instacart.com. It's great for buying specific grocery items that may be available at one store or another, but you're not sure which. They deliver to your door the same day for a very reasonable fee. And nothing horrible will happen to you!
I actually like shopping for groceries. I like to see what I am buying and look for 'specials', which I will buy in quantity. I have saved thousands over the 15 years of shopping. My wife is an impulse shopper and won't go to the dollar store.
Jugs likes going shops Rosie.....I like to see before I buy...I do cheat as well and see how much I can buy it for online first.... You can't see the quality of things on a computer either..
