I don't normally cook ... because if I follow a recipe, it doesn't turn out correctly. (I had the same problem with mixing lab chemicals. lol) So on the rare occasions I do cook - I have to "wing it". I can use a recipe as a guide, but at least 50% of it has to be off the top of my head.
I don't think baking/cooking is going to become extinct. There will always be people who prefer doing it. Especially with the growing popularity of those home delivery plans, where they send you the food and recipe. Also with people who don't want to eat processed food.

Hahahahahahahaha! OMG WALT! Apologies for laughing. My sis used to make a terrific salsa and chopped up jalapenos to put in it. She kinda sorta did what you did. Honestly I didn't laugh when she told me also honestly it is kinda funny if you are not the one experiencing it. Once upon a time long ago I took a bit of what I thought was sliced okra. You know what's coming right? It was sliced jalapenos. I didn't laugh then I can tell ya! Thank you for sharing that. Cinnamon chicken? I dunno Walt. Sweetened or not? I'm not ordinarily a fan of sweet meat. On the other hand Panda Express makes a killer orange chicken. Not that orange sweet sauce kind. It is breaded with a very delicious orange-flavored but NOT orange colored chewey coating and it is ADDICTIVE. So didja just add cinnamon in the flour you used to coat it? Inquiring minds wanna know! :)
It was all off the top of my head, and I never write recipes down - because then I wouldn't be able to follow them and get the same result, anyway. lol
It was just a couple sprinkles of cinnamon, rubbed on a boneless chicken breast.
"The Salsa Incident" is still a favorite family story.
My wife and I don't eat a lot of baked goods. The last thing I baked was an apple pie. It was awesome. We do cook and eat a lot of leftovers. Chili tonite that my wife made a couple of weeks ago. We freeze stuff like that. I am making chicken salad tomorrow. My recies are in my head and I never measure anything.
