One of my nieces is a bona fide genius. 15 years old and about to complete her second year at University. She'd read the entire Harry Potter series before she started school and speaks four languages fluently, as well as being very active with her local Gilbert and Sullivan society.

So how is she too smart for her own good R? She sounds to me to be a wonderful young lady with a very bright future. What is she interested in becoming? My son is one(genius) and he had his library card at the age of 3 and I think you know he is a Professor at a university. I never thought he was too smart for his own good. Ya know what? I'm gonna ask it another way. Thank you for your reply and I'd wish your niece good luck but I don't think luck has anything to do with it! :)
She intends to be a career diplomat - she's studying PolSci despite being still too young to vote. Her being multilingual is an asset. She does attract unwanted attention at times, a pink monkey in a cage full of brown monkeys tends to do that.
Condolences my dear from the bottom of my heart! Well mebbe you Aussies treat your career diplomats with the respect and consideration they deserve. You see how Americans treat theirs. It is appalling that long-term apolitical CAREER DIPLOMATS in America are used as footballs to kick about as the powers that be wish. At least this is true now under the motormouth cabal et al. Not the "diplomats" who buy Ambassadorships with huge political contributions. The diplomats who want only to serve their countries and work under all political situations detached from the politics. Really the situation here is vile. I do hope wherever she lands she is treated respectfully and honorably. Thank you for your reply R. These days being a career diplomat in America is as dangerous as working the bomb squad detail. You can be blown up at any time. :(
