Governing by tantrum. Did His Royal Orangeness hold his breath until Kentucky turned blue?

I think the result of the Kentucky race was as much a rejection of a truly rotten governor as it was a repudiation of His Orangeness. But Trump did go out of his way to make about himself, didn’t he?

I mean, if the antagonist rhetoric of the shameless POTUS couldn’t save a Rep incumbent in a ruby red state that routinely re-elects inbred, obstructionist cretins like Moscow Mitch and Rand Paul, then this dude was ultimately doomed anyway.
The GOP still won every other seat there, and Trump didn’t bother to campaign for any of them.

Editorial opinion is that Bevin may have held on had Trump NOT stuck his nose in. The vote was close, the "antagonist rhetoric" was counterproductive and could have tipped the balance.

That’s a compelling thought. That Trump’s involvement is now SINKING campaigns.  (head explodes)

No, that just makes too much sense, ...but can it be?

In KY the GOP incumbent was lucky Trump came or he would have been slaughtered. He barely made it through the primary...only won by 83 votes.  A very unpopular governor. The other state races went red so 5 out 6 is pretty good. Some people you cannot save from themselves. And given that the other 5 won, it is obvious that people were not voting straight party line.

So KY is not blue...they are a very red tinted maroon.
