I know. We elected a person of color TWICE. But the climate has changed and the racists/bigots/hatemongers are now out in the open and shouting without restraint and proud of being what they are. So is the future going to be dark because of that and them? Any way to stop the tide of ugly/hateful or is that the future America? Right now it doesn't look very good. "Deplorables" can't even begin to describe it .
Hello Rosie:
Sure... Our time is but a tiny slice in our evolution as a species.. Assuming we don't kill ourselves in the short run, I have high hopes for mankind.

"I know. We elected a person of color TWICE."
So therefore we never will again. Ok. Thanks. AND if we don't, we're racist etc. Ok.
The election of the President of the United States of America should be based solely on the person's ability to do the job and NOT based on their sex, sexual preference, their ethnicity nor the color of their skin. Unfortunately, there are those who attacked those who did not support Obama as racists. Now the attack has changed to being sexist. I'm sorry, but the fact that one candidate has been a habitual liar (remember dodging bullets in Bosnia to name just ONE), ignores security and has a memory problem on security instruction, etc., does not make me a sexist if I decide not to support and vote for the candidate! In fact, I find your 'old white men' as offensive. Now if you had said "old white/colored men and women" it might have been more 'inclusive.'
That's the problem --- you are saying 'a lot of people.' I would say 'some people' make it a racial issue. No matter what we do or say, there will always be those who do not like those who are different than themselves. And in 2008, if you didn't support Obama, many people called you a racist. I had a McCain sticker on my car. Someone spray painted RACIST on both sides. That was the attitude in my area of Tennessee - strong Blue Dog Democrats who will only vote for someone with 'D' after there name.
And, I'd say 'a lot of people' don't support him for his politics, including his 'apology tours' and his most recent 'Americans are lazy tour.' Forget his ignoring the law, giving Iran a free hand to go forward with nuclear weapons via 'secret deals,' drawing red lines he never intended to enforce, etc. I haven't even begun on his domestic issues!
We've already had a black president, going back to a white one doesn't mean that someone is racist, if not being racist towards my own skin color makes me deplorable so be it.
The question that arises in my mind whenever I hear someone talk about "old white men" is that why is it bad to be an "old white man" as compared to an "old black man."
Well I'm really sorry someone vandalized your vehicle, but I don't see your point. Even if there are false accusations, racism still exists.
A lot of people are racist, there's no disputing that. Even if only 1% of all Americans were racist to some extent, that still means millions of people. To me, that's a lot.
Yes, there are many legitimate criticisms people can make about Obama. Mind you, parroting the usual Republican talking points here doesn't really go far in making me think you're being particularly critical in your analysis of his policy.
Being an old white man is not bad per se. But people have begun to notice that old white men are disproportionately in charge of things, and that the average old white man tends to find that agreeable, while also getting rather upset at the idea of the situation changing.
Having breasts and a vagina are not qualifiers for the office of President. Neither is a "it's my turn now, MINE!" attitude. Anyone who thinks otherwise doesn't have the best interests of their country in mind.
There have been a number of competent distaff world leaders. Theresa May of the UK looks very promising. And then there was Margret Thatcher, Indira Gandhi, Golda Meir,Benazir Bhutto to nave a very few of a very long list.
So meet rational-thinking people 1/2 way and nominate someone competent that cares as much about the USA as they do about lining their own pockets.
It is insane how an entire gender could be discriminated against and treated like shit for centuries. Is it genetic? Is it just coincidental in the sense that men happened to be stronger physically so they dominated over the physically weaker sex? I honestly don't know exactly what it is, it could be both and have even more factors that play a role in this.
I think the future is optimistic; if we won't get rid of racism and sexism, at least we'll be extinct. And then another species, hopefully one without a conception of gender, can rule over the planet. What's left of it anyway.
We have this prophecy we call Armageddon. The USA is prominently absent from the story. The country must collapse and become helpless before then. You are seeing prophecy being fulfilled as you watch.
We'll be on a cloud floating high above observing how far we've come? How many milleniums d'ya think it will take for that day to arrive? Thank you for your reply excon and Happy Thursday! :)

Whether you support Obama or not has nothing to do with being a racist. Hating Obama does. There are many who hate him. Everyone of them is a racist.
If the shoe fits. Thank you for your reply Rpf and Happy Thursday! :)
Old White men who are wealthy run the world mu. At least in America . Old white men who are wealthy call all the shots. How many old black men do you see in photos of the movers and shakers? There are many Obama haters. All racists. If you didn't vote him that does not make you a racist. Hating him does. I expect all of Trump's supporters hate Obama. Trump is selling racism masquerading as nationalism.
They are buying what he has to sell. Sadly. Thank you for your reply and Happy Thursday.
Precisely! A sea of white faces...old. The movers and shakerss. Wonder when or if that will ever change? Thank you for your reply Rpf! :)

Wow! That is a very profound statement! "If we won't get rid of racism and sexism, at least we'll be extinct." That is really good SRG. Thank you for your thoughtful reply and insight and Happy Thursday! :)

So giving Iran a free hand to go forward with nuclear weapons via 'secret deals' is a Republican talking point? Obama said that doing this deal would make it easier for the world to deal with Iran and would make them less aggressive. I wonder if the US Navy in the Persian Gulf thinks Iran is being a good world citizen? And if you believe that drawing 'red lines' and then backing down is a good thing and only a Republican talking point, I question your critical analysis.
No Rosie just because someone hates Obama doesn't mean they are racist. That's appeal to shame and it is not rooted in logic because there's so many reasons why someone would hate anyone. Saying "you hate Obama just because he's black" isn't really a good way to describe a majority of people who just happen to be varied in political parties.
Personally I think whites who make excuses for black people regardless of what they do (such as the BLM protecting killers of cops and other criminals even ones that target black police) are the real racists. They'd rather much think of excuses and blame an easy scapegoats.
Yeah, it really is. Because nothing about the Iran deal did anything to give Iran more freedom to pursue a nuclear weapon. In fact it did several things to make it nearly impossible for Iran to build one quickly enough to avoid being caught doing it.
The only freedom Iran has gained is some financial freedom, from the removal of sanctions against them. Will this allow them to flex their muscles in the region in other ways? Quite possibly. There's a trade-off between nuclear security, and a more financially secure Iran. That's why it's called a "deal".
As for the red line, if you're referring to Syria, Obama's request for Congressional approval for military force was not exactly "backing down". In fact, Congressional approval for military action of this kind is required for the US president. Congress didn't want to go into Syria, the American people didn't want to go into Syria, Assad was already using gas on his own people; can you imagine the absolute disaster it would have been, if he had dove into Syria feet first?
Agree with you! Just because you 'hate' someone, doesn't make you a racist. Were all those leftest who hated George Bush racists because he was white? Are those who once loved Bill Cosby but now hate him because of the alleged rape allegations racists? What about OJ? Sadly, the race card has been played way to often.
I agree with you also on the BLM. I'll also add the New Black Panthers members such as the one in Phoenix who ran down those 3 cops. I'm sure we'll be hearing how he was the real victim shortly.
