I am not Jewish. I love the music.   Here is my favorite one.... hang on, I will get it.  TOTAL JOYOUSNESS.  THOSE JEWS ARE GOOD AT EXPRESSING THAT.  IN MINOR CHORDS TO BOOT.  I LOVE MINOR CHORDS.    aWWW.... The Connie Francis version is not going to post.  Bummer.

    Here's another one.

It is traditional at Jewish wedding receptions for the bride and groom to be lifted up on chairs as that song is played.

Minor key usually means something bad is going to happen. But klezmer makes it the opposite. This post was edited by Element 99 at November 19, 2019 9:50 AM MST

Wrong. Dead wrong.  Much of Eastern music is minor chords.  It is exotic and not indicative of any dread.

But I know what you mean in America they use that idea to evoke dread or depression.  You can do that too.  But that is a limited idea of what minor chords can do. This post was edited by WM BARR . =ABSOLUTE TRASH at November 19, 2019 9:50 AM MST

I already know that. I was thinking about TV and movies. Watch Chicago PD sometime and you'll get it.

This one is an Israeli classic called "Tzena Tzena" performed by The Weavers c. 1950. Ronnie Gilbert and Lee Hays on vocals, Fred Hellerman on guitar, and the famous Pete Seeger on banjo. The group had a fascinating history which included some of its members being blacklisted during the McCarthy era, and their music and style were major influences on later groups and performers such as The Kingston Trio, Bob Dylan, and Peter, Paul, and Mary. I encourage a look at it here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Weavers
