Are psychics real?

Ask one to pick winning lottery numbers. If you win you will know they are the real deal.

Hahaha.  I don't believe in psychics and I don't play the lottery.  I never envisioned myself winning one.

  • Well, they exist, so they are real.

Whether what they say is real is another matter entirely.  I've known a few people over the years with rather strange abilities and until I get a rational explanation for these I will remain open minded.

In my experience however, anyone advertising themselves as or making a living out of 'special powers' should be avoided.

Psychic abilities are real.  I do not believe that many, if any, have the ability to do what the shysters claim to do, however.  In my own experience, it is something that just happens when it happens, not a skill I can employ whenever I choose.  Others may have a different experience, but that has been mine.

I don't believe it psychics per say, but I do think people can have an ability at random times if that makes sense.

I swore my mother had that.  Long before there was caller ID, she would occasionally announce out loud who she thought was ringing the phone.  It would be someone that didn't normally call us and I swear she would be right!  But I don't think she ever believed she could sit there and predict the future.

There are a lot of unknowns out there.

If it "just happens when it happens", that's not really a skill, is it? If I stand at the 3 point line and throw 100 basketballs, and 1 or 2 happen to go in, I couldn't really say I'm "skilled" at free-throws.

  • They are bogus as heck. Your observation about the lottery ticket has always been my bone of contention. If you ask a Psychic that question, they will usually say that they can't use their abilities for personal gain which usually prompts me to think, "Well tell me the numbers so I can win! I promise I won't give you a damn cent" lol

IMO, Psychics who do reading ar gifted...gifted grifters who are good at reading body language and who use specific language pry generic info out of people. It's pure horse sh*t

I bet we would all be going to one if they could pick winning lottery numbers. I know I would.

I agree Boz, I do believe that there are people who do have psychic abilities.

I also had feelings or thoughts that came true, but it is not anything I plan on, it just happens.

You are right Peas, and what your mother had was a form of psychic ability.

My mother and I could hear each other calling out our name just by thinking about each other.

I would be in another room and hear her call me and would go where she was and ask if she called me, and she would say no but she was thinking of me.

If people look at it as a form of entertainment and don't take it serious, I don't have a problem with it.

But when people give their life savings to the ones who are con artists, then I think that is when someone should step in and put a stop to it.

I believe I said it was not a skill in my experience.  If you think I said otherwise please cut & paste my quote.

I have always had it.  It has never been something I could control, however...it just happens when it happens.  I have had others with the ability expect more from me than I can give, though...so I do think that some people have more control over it than I do.  These are people I know, not just some charletons that took my fancy btw.

The ones that get investigated tend to be fakes. Flecing the gullible for their own gain.

If they were, they would be playing the lotto weekly and winning every time.  When was the last time you heard of a psychic winning the lotto.  I never have.  If one ever does it will be just like everyone else, by accident.

  • no, not in the way that would allow for a change in tax bracket in exchange for a 'nominal fee'.

there are some individuals who are very intuitive, though. most of them avoid tapping in to other people's cares and worries, as it can be exceedingly draining on their own energy. everything comes at a price, and nothing and no one is perfect.

  • There was a time when people used to think I was psychic. It was weird. They kept telling me it over and over again. It was perplexing to me.  I could not understand how they formulated that percepotion.  After some time I became fed up and chose to ask them where they got that notion. You can imagine my embarrassment when I learned that what they were really saying was "psychotic".

True, you did say that it was not a skill that you can employ when you choose - I took this to mean that there is such a skill, but you can't control it. If that's not what you meant, then my comment is pointless, I agree. But then what is that word skill doing there anyway? Saying it's not a skill you can control, that just happens when it happens, seems to say, essentially, that it's just a random coincidence that we happen to ascribe some special meaning to. Right?
