Why is it necessary to KNOW when the last time a mugger edited an answer? Are we gonna cheat and change the answer? Silly.

Everytime I correct/answer something I have to contend with that message that utterly obliterates my last sentence.  No one cares when I edited last.

In the event of a court case - if someone tried to sue JA over something said and later edited - the fact, the content of what was changed, and the timing of the edit could make a difference.

I find it helps to tap in four spaces after the end of the answer. That way the notice of the edit doesn't impinge on the answer.

Then why doesn't it pop up when someone edits his or her question?
    Nice try.

If I post something and you respond to THAT post and then i change my original post, your answer may not be relevant once it's changed.

I agree, I despise that notification box so much that I avoid editing my posts at all. Instead, whenever I post a typo or for any other reason need to edit, I prefer to delete the post entirely and rewrite it.
