There are no guarantees in life if you are a do-gooder or and evil person Rosie...Nature has no need to be kind or evil.....its role in nature is to keep an equilibrium or balance.....it doesn't single out people for protection....we live in a world where dog eats dog to survive and humans are/have just become over the centuries the top preaditor......
Humans are the only animals that kill for sport and pleasure....I wonder where the enjoyment comes from that....

How many each and ever day risk their lives to benifit others or animals....My heart goes out to those trying to stop the pointless slaughter of Whales by the Japanese and othere nation that kill thousands of these magnificent harmless creatures  .....any one who hunts them should suffer the same fate....apart from small islanders or Inuits that have done so for centuries..

I understand that D and I still think it is evil. Thank you for your thoughtful reply. No one promised us a rose garden. Life is not fair. Granted. It is still evil when you try to do good and die in the trying.

Not evil when there is no malice involved Rosie....it's akin to falling over and hitting your head and dying from that.....it's fate, your individual destiny and no ones fault at times and just part of living in the real world..
it's there for everyone who is alive... and a risk we all take ,ever single second we are alive...
There is no guarantee of life from the moment of birth until the day you die....
