That's easy.  They are stupid and do not know any of this.

My people have not been mistreated by someone who has not yet been elected to any political office.

If you (and/or people you know) have done work and/or provided products or services, then been denied payment for consideration, you are in the class of "my people" whom Trump has screwed over.

I think there is a bit of Martha Stewart Effect going on here.

Back when Martha Stewart got into trouble for improper securities dealings, some of her fans admitted part of the fantasy Stewart was selling was the socioeconomic status to BE someone whose securities transactions the SEC would investigate.

I think the Trump candidacy may be (subconsciously) selling a similar fantasy. Trump supporters would love to be the sort of wealthy plutocrat who can stiff others and say, "So sue me!" when called out for their improper behavior.

That is more than kinda troubling to me OS although it does explain the oddball phenomenon  we are experiencing, aka lunatic mania of the presidential campaign of a Donald J. Trump. He's the bad guy that folks are rooting for. In the  theater audience there are always those who cheer for the bad guys. Usually they are the minority.  I'm thinking they have begun breeding like rabbits because there may  be  enough millions of them to elect the bad guy as prez. This is not to say that Hillary has no warts. She has plenty of them. A long history of them. But when compared to the bad guy aka Donald J. Trump I choose her not him. With the rise  and  acceptance of ALT RIGHT which I guess is the bast**d child of racism/white supremacy/skinheadness/sotto voce anti-government militia groups our society has now become its worst possible self. Prostrating themselves at the altar of disgusting/reprehensible and un-American as Trump supporters are doing and being quite proud of it is eerie  to me. Mahalo for  your reply OS and Happy Sunday to thee! :) Was America always like that only these people were in the closet  and now have come out en masse to give us the international salute?

  • Have you ever listened to the reasons that people vote in the first place? Too often it's not for any of the high minded reasons that compel you and I to the polls. Some actual reasons I've been given are: I'm voting the way I was told to vote by union, church, family co workers etc.. Or I like him because he's really good looking. Or their spouse is good looking. Or the candidate is cool, hip or with it. My personal favorite: I don't know anything about any of 'em. I just flip a coin .My point being, no reason for supporting a certain cause or candidate should be discounted or viewed with surprise.

If walking along the sandy shores

of Trump Land sounds and feels

    like something of a dream

and then all of a sudden one finds

that they are sinking in quicksand,

they need to wake up fast.
