One person even said when they're going to class and they see an (they call them old critters), they shake their heads and snicker. Can you believe some people really think this?
What's the point unless you're finishing up a doctorate. Even then isn't it just a little too late ? You're just taking up a seat needed by a young person searching for a degree to pursue a career. Find something else to do in your spare time. Try volunteering at a VA center or a mentor to at risk students !
Now you can just go to online schools like Trump University and get a job that will lead to a great career. Then you don't have to put up with Millenial and Gen Z brats.
Anyone who thinks this way is either teasing or is too young to realise how fast and how much the world changes in a lifetime - how jobs become obsolete due to new technologies, outsourcing overseas and redundancies.
Or how people change, become dissatisfied or disillusioned with some career that they chose when young with different ideas and values.
Or people past retirement who may still have twenty or thirty years of life ahead of them and need a new challenge and occupation.
I am 65 and a half. I am in school for a subject that most people half my age cannot do. So screw that and the horse that it rode in on. You want to believe failure exists, fine. You want to believe old wives tales. Fine. You want to be stuck and listen to lies that are harmful to your psyche? I am here to inspire you. Never feel old. Never be old. Never act old. Just grow and learn and try your best every day. That is what life is all about. Not ever feeling like giving up and throwing in a towel.
I am not trying to ape being a 20 year old. I am happy being my age. I am never going to act OLD because that is what other people do. You don't need that hellish existence. It is all in your mind. Wisdom is fun. Old is not.
And they would be wrong. One is NEVER too old to learn.
In fact, the State collegiate system in many States allow residents past a certain age to attend classes tuition free.
Do what ever you want.
Never let someone tell you that you are too old for anything
If people over 50 what to go back to school. It none of anyone busy. Many people in their forties, and fifties take night classes as they working a full time job in the day. There people in their sixties who ard taking classes. We are students till we die. We are learning everyday.
Everyone has a right to make a decent living, and if that requires a college degree then so be it.
Also, when you get into more expensive private colleges, a lot of those people you see going back to college are doing it as a way to keep themselves occupied. I know of a guy who started out as a Real Estate agent and in the space of 25 years became a millionaire several times over. Then he decided he'd done all he wanted in Real Estate and was going back to college to get a Law Degree and become a Constitutional Scholar. Now he's in his sixties and is an adjunct professor and loves his job and his new life.
Sounds like that guy is living a dream most people can only be envious of.
Learning is for people of all ages. Whether it's out of necessity or for enjoyment, it's ridiculous to say that someone is "too old" to further educate themselves. I think it's admirable.
that's terrible. My mom went back to school in her late 50's and graduated. That person is just jelly because they're too stupid to go to college.
