    I thought maybe the Chinese did some grafts.  Like they did with those disfigured fighting fish and those unfortunate pug dogs with no snouts.

    Did you see the word GRAFT?  They are grafted by the Chinese.  They will "produce" pretzel grapes when the graft takes.
