When I was a youngster, the first time I ever heard of a (musical) concert, I mistook it to mean “contest”.

When it was over, and after a few different musical acts had performed at it, I asked, “Who won?”

What were some words that you misunderstood as a child and later learned their correct meanings?

    There were none. If I didn't understand a word, I asked or looked it up.

      Then there were some. As you stated, if you didn’t understand, you found out later after having asked or looking them up.
