It's the kick-off day of our first-ever blogging contest here on answerMug. I'm really hoping to see a variety of familiar and new avatars creeping over to this section. I'm not really sure why some people steer clear of blogging, because it's the most versatile form of communication we have here. Unlike any other mode of communication, it gives people the floor totally and completely, to share information in whatever format best appeals to them. There's no pre-set format on how a blog HAS to be, nor are there any guidelines as to what you write about, provided it fits in with the rest of the site guidelines.
So, here's some ideas on what you can use a blog to do:
Share an opinion- Whatever you're passionate about. Maybe you want people to understand why a certain candidate is the best or why coffee drinkers rule. An example of this style can be seen in Blue Ninja's "The Death Penalty- Should it be Outlawed?"
Share an experience- Sometimes, life throws us curve balls and it's helpful to get the story on paper. Other times, something funny happens or heart warming happens and it's just too good not to share. You can see this style in Karen's "Oh You Dirty Cow."
Create a call to action- Do you know of something that you firmly believe more people should be aware of and involved in? Perhaps a charity or a lifestyle. You can see this in Ondine's "Do Children Today Engage in Too Many Extracurricular Activities?"
Share Poetry or Free Verse- There's no limits when it comes to poetry. It can convey emotion, a need, a story and more. Susan has translated some of her works and shared them with us- you can see one in "Just a Poem to Share With You"
Muggers have used the blog section to share longer novels, using each entry as a chapter, to write about current events, things happening in their lives, to inspire and more.
What's a blog? That's up to you. Write whatever you like. We're here and ready to read. :)
