Trick question #2 - Do you ever get the urge to un plug your appliences and devices?

I un plug my appliance and devices  that are not in use but I don't think I do it because of a urge I do it to stop wasting phantom energy. Cheers and happy weekend!

I'm wondering if that could be bad - like maybe with a lose bulb in the socket it might cause an ark or something. Cheers and happy weekend!

I unplug anything in my house that isn't on a surge suppressor. I don't care about power vampires asI do stray power surges.  PG&E does not deliver "clean" power in this area (plus they turn the power on and off at their leisure).   One power spike and things get toasted.

A few years ago we had a power surge in my condo building. Many of us lost appliances and electronics. I had no idea that something like this could happen and that the power company had no liability. My losses were less than my insurance deductible, in part thanks to a surge suppressor that gave up its life to save some of my electronic devices.

  • Meh.  The most fun "appliances" run on batteries anyway.

No, I don't but I wish I did have that urge!! Honestly, in an ideal world we would unplug everything that wasn't in use.. some of the things have a power converter plug and that will keep using electricity even when the appliance isn't on.. so I do wish I were more diligent

I unplug my air conditioners once the weather cools down, but I don't unplug anything else.
