Do you prefer/enjoy having little or no internet access when you travel? (Personally, I love it!)

The vacation from which my wife and I just returned today was preplanned for more than eight months, yet I did not announce here beforehand that I would be out of contact.

I was joking around as if to say that you found my absence from AM to be a refreshing break.

I hope yall had a great time.

When I travel I take a laptop along.  In the evenings I like to get online, like I'm doing now.  The days would mostly be pretty busy between doing and driving.  We did stop during a long cross country drive a few years ago at a motel which had no internet and we drove until we found another place.  So, sometimes it's important more than others.  I don't use a smartphone so the laptop is my away from home source.  At home I usually use my desktop.  I like it better than any other way to access the web.

Do you ever depart the United States, or are you only referring to domestic travel?

I have departed the USA many times and have never taken a computer with me.  The people I visit have computers as long as I've had a desire to get online while traveling.  Most of my travel other than Islands and Europe was done when I was younger and no need to have a computer.  I prefer road trips in the lower 48 and always take a computer.  When I fly domestically I take a computer.

My next vacation coming up I will have no access to the internet at all while there. I’m looking forward to that.

That’s good to know; very useful information for me. (Cough, cough.)

I’m glad you agree. Listen, you’re not allergic to an iron shackle on your ankle, are you?

What colour is an iron shackle? I don’t want it to clash with my vacation wear.

What a silly thought; you won’t have access to any of your clothing. Believe me, it’s so dark down in the dungeon I’ve prepared for you that

Er, um, I meant to say that I’ll make sure that the colours flatter your outfit. (Cough, cough.)

I would not like it. I use internet daily for both work and personal.

I don't mind at all. I am a bit nervous about an upcoming trip to the mountains where the cell service is limited or non-existent because how am I supposed to know where I'm going without Google Maps??

No decent printed maps available for the area you wish to visit?

I'm not adept at map-reading, but did already have some downloaded on my phone. I also received some in the visitor info I got via mail.

I had to postpone my trip, but hope to make it there in October.

I prefer to have internet access while I am away. I have gone without a couple of times when the internet was so bad, it may as well not have been there.. But I prefer to have it. However, when I am away I DO take a complete break from social sites like this. That to me is a real break

I've enjoyed many holidays with no Internet, radio, music device or newspapers (I have no TV anyway) for up to three weeks. And my telephone, which is not an Internet device as far as I know, was switched off almost all of the time.
