There are a few ways that those who loved each other stop. But to really dislike someone you used to love? Ever experience THAT?

There are bitter divorces
Friendships break up
Family estrangements
Business-related disconnects

I think that must be a really big shock unless the people involved never really loved each other and only pretended to for whatever reason.

I think it's more likely that married people will stay married when they dislike each other if they have young kids or if a divorce is too expensive. So they stay married and live separate lives and hopefully don't kill each other.

Friendships that were once very good solid stable close can change and that is always sad

Family estrangements occur all the time for whatever reason

A job you once loved becomes dreadful and terrible and you leave

It's all part of being a human being.

    Im still with my first partner after leaving school Rosie.....and I'm well aware of what it must feel,like to be cheated on and not respected...
    I can  fully understand how love can turn to the worst kind of hatred in many situations if genuine medical conditions are not involved....Betrayal can cut so deep it you are the innocent partner and have given your relationship your all...

    I never experienced THAT kind of betrayal from a partner D. But I did experience another kind. He was a  compulsive gambler and thus had to be a compulsive liar to cover it up. Finally it all hit and I was devastated. Apparently he was in deep to some loan sharks and he had taken out a loan on our house and forged my signature on the loan documents to get the money to pay them off. I only found out about it one day when I got a phone call from the loan officer at the bank. I don't remember WHY he called but I have never been so shocked in all my life nor betrayed like that. I will never recover from it. He didn't pay the mortgage for months and we got a notice of foreclosure or something which he tried to hide from me too. I had to get out. I couldn't live that way.
