    All situations? No. Some? Yes.

Hmm tough one.. in that yes, I believe they would, regardless but I wouldn't ever want them to have my back if I were in the wrong - I'd like to think they would be honest with me about that and not just defend me regardless

  • My immediate family consists of just my parents, but I know that they have my back. I've never given them a situation where they did not support me.

    Definitely not.

Dad was half the cause of the problems (lechery and violence) due to his drinking, though he died when I was fourteen.

Mum did try to help but it was only possible when she was sober, which was only 50% of the time.
But her attempts often failed because even at her best she was never bright on any level.
She had no skills in conflict resolution, problem-solving or relationships,
and simply had no idea how to do anything well except housework and cooking.

What helped me most was growing old enough to leave home and learning how to be independent.

I was the one who took care of everyone else.  My personal problems...I handled by myself.  Now I live over 700 miles from my family other than a sibling and her husband.  We did move our mother here to be in assisted living near us.  I see her at least weekly.   This post was edited by Thriftymaid at March 2, 2020 6:25 PM MST

Highly unlikely, but one can hope.
