When vacuuming, what is something you always stop and pick up rather than letting the suction get it? ~

  • The cats.  Oh wait you said always.  I guess I'd have to say larger than crumb sized pieces of food.

Kettlebells.  Oh wait, I don't own any kettlebells... I guess that means I don't pick up anything.  I mean, isn't  the reason vacuums come with so many different attachments is so you can vacuum up nearly everything?  (now where did I put that dog attachment?)

Money and anything that looks like it could clog the hose.

  • OMG!  The fringe on the edges of some rugs.  It always causes a problem and even though it isn't necessarily at risk of going up the hose, it does cause the vacuum to have problems.  It makes a loud squealing noise, entangles the beater bar, can make the vacuum overheat, and it destroys the decorative frou-frou bordering my rug.  DON'T MESS WITH MY FROU-FROU!  Come to think of it don't mess with my Dyson either.  I hate it when my Vacuum and my household objects attack one another like that.

Wow...I haven't heard the term 'beater-bar' used in years.(Although I still use it.) You're too young to even know it. The new term is roller-brush.

  • My grandmother and mother always called it that so I do too.  Old is the new young.  Dont make me shake my roller brush at you.

The cat (when I had one).  She was scared of it when it was running.  If I turned it off and walked out of the room she would be sitting on it when I came back.  I never figured out if she liked the warmth or if she was protecting the family from the monster.

Anything metal or a large piece of anything that would get stuck in the hose.

Thumb tacks, regualar tacks, nails and screws, and balls of hair.  Those balls aren't attached to anything breathing.  When I clean our hairbrushes sometimes I miss the garbage can.  I try to make sure to pick it up but not always.
Hair causes HUGE dilemmas for our vacuum.
There have been times when I just leave our household vacuum in the closet and go straight for the shop vac.
    That doesn't read very well.
I grab the shop vac Not for the hair, per say.  I'm not shedding THAT much.
It is just that our house, from remodeling, gets so bad sometimes it would be overwhelming for the Bissell. This post was edited by Merlin at March 4, 2020 7:06 AM MST

    Oh, please do.
I need the rest from my own brain.  Maybe they will subscribe some meds.  I was in desperate need there for a moment.

Pretty much anything that isn't dust or pet hair. If it's big enough to pick up, it gets picked up.
