Being young and healthy, you don't have anything to fear for yourself and neither do most of us. But this virus is killing more people than the flu, so the challenge is to keep it in check. Even if you will have a mild illness or no symptoms at all, you can spread it to others whose immune systems are less strong. Cancer, diabetes, heart disease and suicide are not contagious. So, I agree, it's not necessary to panic, but we should be worried about being a contributor to its spread if we have any concern for our fellow human beings.
Idk, I think the media just hypes these things up..I remember a few years ago it was the swine flu then before that it was the bird flu...maybe this one is more serious, but those flus before it was the same thing, huge deal, everyone’s going to die...then it turned out to be nothing worse than a normal flu. You have to be cautious of not spreading any average regular flu to the elderly also. so why is this one such a huge deal? I find it annoying.
I also believe the media uses fear to get viewers. But maybe some hype is necessary to raise awareness and limit the impact. We don't know whether or not all the media hype helped to keep those previous epidemics from being worse than they were.
I am not advocating panic. The media does over-hype things. But, I am a meticulous hand-washer and recently had a bout of the norovirus. Hand-washing is not a magic bullet.
In numbers, the flu is killing more people, but the percentage of people who die from the Corona virus is higher. So as this virus affects more people, the numbers have the potential of being much higher. Only 50% of people get a flu shot, so the number of those deaths could be reduced. Until we have a similar shot for the Corona virus, it will continue to spread.
Darn, my other 'relax' comment there I had intended as a "Come on over here closer. And relax . . ." type of reply, in a "come, hither"/ a "come-on" type of way.
-- but it reads to me today as if I were just telling you to calm down. Oh, well. :)
