How much does LOOKING IT matter? How much does NOT LOOKING IT matter? Who sez so?

    I assume this is about the Census. 
    It has a line to fill out your orogins 
    So you would check White and print Armenia. 


    I think they should have a Middle East box.

    You ASSume wrong. This question has zero to do with the census m2c but you won't believe me. You never do so why should you do so now? ZERO to do with the census. ZERO ZERO ZERO ZERO ZERO.     Looking it matters not at all, it's whether you identify with the culture. What's in your heart?

    An aboriginal girl I know (I taught her to drive) looks more southern European (Greek) than indigenous Australian. Probably has immigrant ancestry closer to home than I do (I'm fourth gen minimum), but identifies with her grandmother's people from Arnhem Land in Northern Australia.

    I have one aboriginal ancestress (one g'g'g' grandmother), but I don't consider myself to be native Australian as I don't identify with the culture - our family has been unable to determine which First Nations people she was part of. It was hidden, the "family shame" for generations, the biggest difference between pre-1967 Australia (when aboriginal people were granted full citizenship rights) and South Africa is that the Afrikaners were at least honest about it. What is known is that Paddy Monaghan arrived from Ireland during the Australian gold rush, like most starry-eyed hopefuls he found nada as far as gold was concerned, but he did find a wife. There were seven white women in the settlement and Mrs Monaghan wasn't one of them. Their son John (notorious bushranger Black Jack Monaghan) wasn't called that because of his prowess at cards, that game was called Pontoon. It was the colour of his skin - and his notoriety as a highwayman is quite likely why the family covered the connection up. Jack wasn't my ancestor, I'm descended from his brother Kevin.
