Here at home - in a shack on 64 acres at two kilometers from the nearest village and 25 from a town, Ari and I would be fine if we never needed to go out.
But we do have to go shopping about twice a week. There is risk in town - Murwillumbah. This is because many residents of this area commute to the Gold Coast City for work.
You will all have heard that Tom Hanks and his wife are in Gold Coast Hospital with Covid19. For a week before these two were diagnosed, they came into close contact with literally thousands of people. There's a good chance that some of those people live in my area. Therefore, I could be standing right next to on in a supermarket queue. Evidence now suggests that asymptomatic people can transmit the virus.
Home is safe. I am just putting deliveries, unopened, against the wall in the dining room. I'll open in no less than 12 days. I separate out the junk mail and discard outside, then bring in the mail and it sits untouched for 5 days. No one is moving around here. I've been staying upstairs except when cooking or doing laundry.
I'm mostly in my apartment, but I go downstairs for the mail, go out to the garbage compactor room, went to mail some letters today, did some food shopping on Monday, so I'm not completely isolated.
