Maybe if they also sell food.

No, they do not. We have separate liquor and beer stores from food stores. People are going to lose their minds here if they can’t buy alcohol after tommorow.

I’ve honestly never heard of it. Have you heard of Loblaws? that’s our largest in Canada.

There’s a question :) ask everyone the name of their regular grocery store.

We don't want the hospitals full of alcoholics going through withdrawal.  Unfortunately, they need to keep them open.

They‘re announcing later today what is an essential service before  close everything tommorow night . I wouldn’t want to go anywhere near a liquor store right now with it being questionable. I bet it’s insane there right now. This post was edited by Jaimie at March 23, 2020 5:25 PM MDT

Not in Australia, most grocery stores don't have a liquor license (the exception is Aldi in the state of New South Wales).
Beer is a food. Close the bottle shops in Australia and you will get riots. Aussies are generally too apathetic to go nuts - beer is one of the few things we care enough about.

That’s what I was worried about, riots here over not being able to buy alcohol.

Alcohol is ridiculously easy to make. GOOD booze is much harder.

No grocery stores are allowed to sell liquor here. Just last year they started being allowed to sell 6 packs of beer, but beer is stupid. It was announced an hour ago though that liquor stores are considered an essential service. I was honestly afraid of the riots that may have happened if Canadians couldn’t get liquor lol.

Really. All our grocery stores sell liquor.   How about your gas stations? Most of ours sell it as well.
Ours cannot sell on Sunday through.

No liquor at all in gas stations lol. We have LCBO Stores “liquor Control board of Ontario.” That’s the only place liquor can be sold. We also have separate beer stores and wine stores.

Wow. So picky about sales locations. Why do they separate beer, wine and liquor? More jobs?
We give a liquor license to everybody. This post was edited by my2cents at March 25, 2020 7:05 AM MDT

Working at an LCBO is a government job. They like to control us here lol.

They do sell beer and wine at the LCBO’s also. But they have larger stores that only have wine and only have beer with larger varieties of each of those.

Our governor listed the essential stores and services that can be open. Stand alone liquor stores are not on the list. I can go to, if needed, a local Coast Guard station exchange to get liquor. That is not controlled by the state. This post was edited by Element 99 at March 24, 2020 10:03 AM MDT
