    No, but I did find out something surprising about one of my ancestral surnames. My maternal grandmother always claimed that her own great-grandfather, William Nickisson, was Danish (or Norwrgian - I forget which). My own research indicates that this is untrue - it's an English surname that just happens to have a Scandinavian-looking spelling. The other part of the family legend - that he was raised in a prosperous family but was later cut off by his parents after he eloped with a household servant - did however turn out to be true.
