But it's never worked that way. The oil is crude so it needs refining before we can use it as fuel. Then there's the transport and the costs of infrastructure to store and pumps to supply it. And there's all the various taxes.
My big hope is that some day when we sell up and move, we'll be able to get an electric car and recharge it from voltaics on the roof and Tesla batteries.
