Should teachers be allowed to have guns to protect themselves and students?

  • No ... please.  I think instead of having to learn how to defend ourselves with weapons ... we as parents need to teach our kids to use their brains more than their "brawn" or guns to solve problems and protect ourselves.  Guns in schools ... a sure recipe for disaster!!!! Yes. The gun should be locked up where only the teacher has access and the teacher should undergo a the same type of background check used for conceal carry permits.
Also it should not be a requirement for every teacher but it should be an option.

I believe if our schools had this sign there would be little to no school shootings. This post was edited by my2cents at September 29, 2016 1:02 PM MDT

That makes as much sense as locking up the fire extinguishers.

You have them locked up so a "challenged" student does not use them.

If they do they will have to carry it or it won't be available when needed.

I'v seen a teacher go off the deep end - glad they didn't have a gun. I think students would be safer if their school was fortified and a weapons check before a student enters the school. Cheers!

Good grief, no. I don't even like the idea of teachers using corporal punishment, let alone shooting people.
