What about those members who frequently change their avatars, or those who use the nothingness default website avatar?
This is an intriguing question you’ve posed, because you now have me wondering how much I rely on consciously looking at the avatar, the user name, the post itself, a combination of two of the above, all three of the above, none of the above/something else . . .
Yes. I can identify a good majority of people by their avatar. Some I have to highlight but still have an idea of who it might be depending on the time of day. Rosie G., for example. She has always used the mug avatar. Sometimes I have to peek! :)
Off the top of my head, I can say these: JA has her eye on you! Very nice eye, I might add. Not shmoozing. Simply stating.
Element has a really cool water drop.
Randy D. has a really cool flag.
Welby has the movie he loves. Damn! I can't think of it at the moment. For the longest time I thought it was a led Zepplin album cover. I'm glad I was corrected. ;) :)
Stu Spelling Be used to have a different one I think but now it is the badge of fun and truth of spelling. :) :)
Danielle G. has always had the really cool tiger.
My2Cents has a the epitome of classic. True to the name and personality. One, no TWO things I can always count on. Her common sense and her perfect avatar.
Jaimie changes from time to time but still always has a cool chick.
Nice Jugs and her very stylish shoe.
Bookworm changed hers a little while ago but it is a bookworm. I love it and her beautiful ability to write, heart, and chosen lifestyle.
Don Branzini has a very thoughtful looking dude on his. A great character and knowledgeable too... just like his avatar.
Nevan B. has a GREAT picture of himself. He changed it a while back. It used to be something else. I think another picture. This one he has on a tie.
DannyPetti I remember because of his name but also I think his avatar is of the ocean. I recognize it when I see it but have never gone up close and actually looked at it. I should do that tomorrow. I know I like it.
Baba and his cool and kind surfer hand. At least that is the way I see it. :)
Morning Glory just changed but I like both. It only took once to know who it was. I like morning glory and the chosen avatars.
CosmicWunderkind changed recently. I think it is a motor scooter. It has red on it somewhere but just a little bit. I recognize it as Cosmic. :)
Kittygate is a wonderful relief when I see the cat and the flag! For a very long time I smile when I see Kittygate! :)
Drat! B.H. Wilson comes to mind I just can't place the avatar. Hmmm. This makes me sad because I really like the person. I just can't picture the avatar.
I guess that is my sign to stop thinking of all the people I know by avatar. I do recognize people and are happy to see they are on when I see their pictures. I'm sure I left out some very important people to me. It's not that I don't care. It's that it is 3:22 am and I must catch a wink before the alarm goes off at 5. Off I go. That's not a water drop. It's a tiny sample of Einsteinium in a test tube of water. It emits a blue glow called Chernenkov radiation. Asker's Pick BTW.

Thanks Welby! I swear. I am going to watch this movie just because you like it so much. The reason I haven't is because I am not drawn to movies that I think have a lot of dead people in them. This title kind of insinuates it does. ;) BUT, in your honor, I WILL watch it.
I'm already afraid. Am I going to scream? Am I going to cover my eyes half way through the movie? I better grab Don to watch it with me, hu?! :) :)

I won't ruin anything with plot spoilers but I am SO ready to talk about this movie for months on end, ha!
In general, though - -
* the movie is not, in any way, shape or form, overly gory or over-the-top in gory special effects; the story, the people and the plot are the stars here, not special effects. The movie's low budget and honest, everyday acting from the cast makes it all the more real to me. (Some people find the movie amateurish in some ways- - not me,though --all of its quirkiness makes it feel that much more real to me.)
* the movie works so well for me because the people in the movie are simply trying to deal and survive with a situation that is challenging and scary - - they are all "real" people -- no famous stars here "acting" - these are real people, like you and me -- and that is why the movie works so well for me - - because it's you and me up there on the screen - - everyday people; for instance, the opening scene is simply a brother and sister going to a cemetery to put a wreath on their mother's grave -- and these two really seem like a brother and sister! :) How they talk to, and with, each other is pure "brother-and-sister relating."
* there are no super heroes in this movie - - no bigger-than-life people -- these are all everyday, frightened people, with strengths and weaknesses, just trying to survive
* as far as the living dead - -there are not hundreds of them seen in the movie -- more like the scene in my avatar
I might be giving too much away, sorry! :)
But -- very important -- if you do watch, make sure you watch the original 1968, George Romero-directed , black-and-white original version of "Night of the Living Dead." There have been a lot of remakes and sequels. And, also, at least one version with "added" scenes stuck in. Just make sure you (and Don, too, if he watches) get only the original version. :)
Oh -- and many of the remakes and sequels I really like, too -- but this very first one is the one I adore -- my Favorite Movie of All Movies I've Seen.

My dearest friend, I would like you to know, I AM GOING to see it and I'm excited!
I have trusted your taste in music and short stories and have not ever been let down. :) :) I certainly have no reason to question your taste in movies. :) :) I like the fact you are guiding me to the original, 1968, and not the remakes. This pleases me to no end. Sometimes, black and whites are better. Look at Alfred Hitchcock and his movies. When the plot is good, the movie carries itself. No one really needs to see blood squirting out of body parts or faces, anyway. That's just gross. Besides, even though you say the remakes are good, you have always stood true to the original. :) You have carried it as your avatar for as long as I can remember and I smile every time I see it. :):)
My idea is to have a blockbuster afternoon with Don Before This Sunday. The original, 1968, The Night of the Walking Dead is first on my list!!! Thanks again, Welby! As always, sending Happy and Healthy Thoughts and Vibes to you! Hugs and Loves! :) :)

[And, this is not a plot spoiler -- "more about the gore" (I just made that up - - that's a nice little rhyming scheme there, ha!) again, as far as any gore or whatever -- any of it that does exist is just within the natural progression of the story and not over-the-top and not "special effects for the sake of special effects" or shock value (other than the story itself being shocking, as far as living dead).]
I've done a lot studying and reading about the movie and its production etc - - one thing I really like that I thought you might enjoy -- several of the actors /actresses in the movie were all co-workers with director George Romero at their production company. From what I've read, Romero and they wanted to originally make a "monster flick" but soon realized they did not have a big enough film budget to create a believable-looking monster. So, Romero thought (I'm paraphrasing), "Let's make the monsters just be other people. No special effects needed." :) :)
Ha!! Guess what just came on the radio station I'm listening to!!!!!! "Killing Me Softly with His Song"!!! And its Roberta Flack's original version!!! No bazooka! YessSSSS! Is that not SO fun?? -- Here I am responding to you -- and that song came on! :)
I'm very excited you will be watching the movie! And please feel free to let me know what you think of it - - and, believe me, if you end up not liking the movie so well as I do, it's all good! Some people largely disagree with me on my thoughts on the movie. :)
