I think we should only get registered at the license bureu. We are required to show citizenship when we get our ID. And if we get a license with our citizenship varified then we should automatically be registered to vote.

Boy, I just don't think you need to be a citizen to drive. My Washington drivers license doesn't say whether I'm a citizen or not. In any case, registration, wherever it takes place, should require proof of citizenship..

True it does not say if you are a citizen but when you got your license you were required to prove you identity. I know I had to show my birth cert, SS card and something else (I don't remember) These are things that also prove you citizenship. Now I believe that as soon as they issued my DL or state ID (Non-drivers) and they having varified my identity and my citizenship the computer should automatically register me to vote.
If they state issues an DL or ID to a non-citizen then it should automatically prevent that person from registering to vote. (But ideally you could only register at the DMV so it would be simply no registering the non-citizen)

The problem here in my state is we require proof of citizenship to register to vote but the license bureau doesn't. Nor does the Federal voter registration. Those that registered there are not counted. The Liberal judges are trying to over turn our law to allow anyone to register.
Really I thought all of the voter registrations were basic honor system. The system I am talking about would require the DMV to check citizenship for the voter registation.
We passed the proof of citizenship law several years ago. The courts have been trying to overturn them ever since. You are also required to show id before you vote. Getting a lot of liberal bs on that too. Can't cash a check without ID but they want anyone to be able to vote.
I do not really understand why this does not happen. It is unusual. You go to the poorest slum in India and still only citizens can vote and a respectable effort is made to keep it that way. Here there are dead people voting and illegals voting and the infrastructure is in place to stop that with ease. It makes elections not as credible. I do not think huge numbers are voting twice or voting illegally but when it happens it casts doubt so it should be controlled better.
And while we are discussing this, the FBI is investigating some 19-20 voter registration forms in Harrisonburg, VA turned in by a group called HarrisonburgVOTES which are for people who have died! That's just ONE small voting area where on-the-ball people caught this. Back in May, CBS discovered hundreds active dead voters in California, most in the LA area.
And then there are the cases of permanent residents (green card holders) who are asking to have their names removed from voter rolls when the apply for Citizenship.
In reality, there are two Inconvenient Truths attached to the brouhaha over voter ID laws:
1) They really only became a national issue after the Nazi Kenyan Marxist Socialist Indonesian Communist Terrorist Muslim became President
2) I would have much more faith is such laws if they were coupled with efforts to make the voter registration process for citizens as easy as possible. To date, EVERY recent voter ID law (if you can find an exception, let me know) has been rife with restrictions which disproportionately impact N*gg*ers, Sp*cs, and F***ING HADJIS...er, poor/urban/ethnic voters (who tend to favor Democratic candidates). In fact, many of those laws have been overturned or substantially revised because they were unconstitutional.
In short, I don't political partisans to come up with voter ID laws that aren't in their self-interest.

Not sure what restrictions you are referring to. You cannot get a welfare check without photo ID. ID's here are available from the state for free to the poor and welfare recipients.
Voting is very easy here. As a Supervising Judge for two precincts no one has complained about the ID process or been denied the right to vote. You will be hard pressed to find all these poor people being oppressed by showing who they are if they are actually citizens.
The problem with voter ID laws, is that they discriminate against Americans.. But, I have NO trouble with requiring proof of citizenship to REGISTER, because that would discriminate against NON CITIZENS. Voter ID would have done NOTHING to prevent this guy from voting..
If you're TRULY interested in the integrity of the election, STOPPING non citizens from REGISTERING would the place to DO that.. But, the right wing would rather do voter ID laws.. I KNOW why. So do you.

Did I just say that you should have to provide proof of citizenship to register to vote? I believe I did. But yes I also beleive you should have to prove you are the registered person when you go into cast that vote as well.
