Any re-do of an elaborate web site is going to involve complications. Perhaps think of it as like a tree transplant where you have to get out all the roots, town to the tiniest, without cutting them. When you start out, you do not have a complete picture of all the tricks of root growth, but over time you discover them and you get the transplant done.
Yes. The site came back with data in place and I have witnessed many attempts at such a transition where that did not happen and the sites were dead. There are bugs but I would say this was well done and better than average.
