Discussion»Statements»Rosie's Corner» Former President Barack Obama appointed to SCOTUS. Let that sink in. Not my idea. What do you think about that possibility?
His law license was voluntarily retired when he secured the DNC nomination in 2008. He's not currently a member of the bar - so I doubt he'd be eligible. Neither would I think he'd want it. Michelle Obama, on the other hand, has a valid law license that is currently inactive, as she is not practising so had no need to keep it active. It's a relatively simple matter to return said license to active status and be readmitted to the bar if she so wishes. I doubt she'd do so, but it's an option.
Hi R. The idea floored me but you know any way we could utilize him I'm totally up for and would support. Michelle is a good candidate too for anything she would be willing to engage with. I did not know about the law license thing. HOW DO YOU m'dear? I keep being amazed by all the things YOU know that I SHOULD BUT DON'T. My bad. Thank you for your reply and Happy Tuesday! You and yours all good well and more than OK? :)
They have been floating that for a while now. Obama says he does not want the job. And besides it will be 5 yrs min before it would even be possible. President Trump will not be appointing Obama.
So it could happen as early as next January - but I doubt it. Obama would have to resit his bar exams, for starters - Michelle's license is merely inactive, Barack's was retired.
Let me get this straight - a man or woman can be appointed to the bench of the Supreme Court, the highest court in the land, with ABSOLUTELY NO LEGAL QUALIFICATIONS AT ALL?!! No wonder they have made so many cockamamie decisions.
Don't favor it at all. He obviously has no idea of the Constitutional limits on federal government (10th Amendment), as evidenced by his sponsoring the largest violation of that Constitution since The Great Depression and FDR. So ... no, thank you.
