Do you find it a bit difficult to believe that some people don’t know the difference between the words rouse and arouse? ~

    In some ways, some dictionaries don't know either.
    From three different sources, included in the defininitons:

    Both are verbs.

    Rouse -- "cause to feel excited" -  "to excite"

    Arouse -- "to stir up, excite"   - "evoke or awaken a feeling"

    At the least, I find them similar words.

    I guess add me to that "some people" list.

    Not hard to believe when you consider how many people don't know the proper uses of there, their and they're; its, it's; except, accept.  You get my drift.

    I don't  know why I can understand the differences in your examples but I have difficulty with others like when to use "into" or "in to" - - there are others for me, too. If I think of them, I'll come back and share, ha!

    Sometimes, it's just a matter of a typo, which I have done myself, but when the same mistake is made over and over again, you know that's not it.
