Besides peaceful protests, violent protests, riots, coups what other ways do citizens have of showing they are very upset?

You visit, call, fax your congress person and Senator.  Help the ones you agree with get elected.  Form non-profit Political Action Committee group to lobby them across the country.  Or another group to address the issue.      If you are upset over something you likely are not the only one.
