Why is there a remake scheduled for director Christopher Nolan's movie "Memento" (which starred Guy Pearce)?

From what I read just moments ago, a remake has been planned since 2015.

If you've seen the movie, you know there is not one single good reason to remake such a superlative film.

I'm mildly pis*ed. Not overly so, just mildly.
:)

(If you haven't seen "Memento," I highly recommend it.)

Darn! I haven't seen any posts about this movie.
Great, great movie for me, even if I think I may have missed some of he details of it. :)

Why not? I haven't seen it, but it doesn't seem like anything to lose sleep over.

I get your point. :) And I promise I won't los sleep over it.

But the movie is truly unique in many ways for me. I want it to stay this way. I still find no need to remake a great movie. (And that's not to say I dislike remakes -- I've enjoyed every rendition of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" that I've seen, especially the 1978 remake.)

So, there goes any point about "Memento" being remade, I guess.

I don't know - - maybe it's also because my man Guy Pearce is in it. It was one of the first movies I saw with him in it. Amazing actor. One of the best actors ever for me. (And not just because of how handsome I find him, too, ha.)

EDIT: Oh, and that's Veronica Cartwright in the image in a scene from 1978 "Invasion of the Body Snatchers." Hands down, she's my favorite actress. :)

I’ve seen the movie, I agree with you that there’s no apparently valid need to remake it.

Many people may tout the “wonders” of processes such as CGI (computer-generated imagery).  I am not one of them. Just because something has been done with a computer does not automatically mean it’s better than other options, or that it’s even good at all.

Even though in Stu Spelling Bee's answer I mentioned some remade movies I've liked, in general, anymore, if I like a movie, I'm more apt to prefer to just "leave it alone, let it be the one."

  • Agreed. I can't fathom a reason for remaking Memento. For the most part I see "remakes" as the tool of Hollywood producers who are unable to come up with a good original idea for a film.

Thanks, Nevan B! I sometimes think the same thing you do about remakes, though, I should admit there a some remakes I like.
But "Memento" is just so good to me.
