Who invented 'small-talk'? Are you any good at it?

I just had a revelation - I am not good at it! Indeed, more than that, I don't even bother trying! It's just not my thing! I can talk to people just fine, if I have to and we are 1-1, but if I don't have to and have no good reason to, I am just not the kind to engage in small-talk unless it's necessary!
Am I alone?

Sure, a majority of the time I can pull it off, but certainly not always. There are some times it either falls flat or I don’t even have the desire to attempt it. Also, there are times another person will initiate and I’m not into it.

Very balanced reply Randy. Much appreciated! I think with me it's a lack of desire, perhaps I save my desire for other things :P

No...I'm not that interested in small talk.
