Computers and spellcheck have pretty much ruined my ability to spell even simple words at times. Has this happened to you?

On the contrary, it has improved my spelling because I see the proper spelling rather than just spelling it wrong.

Now reliance on calculators do tend to affect math skills and reliance on cell phones has made it so I don't memorize phone numbers anymore.

it certainly is a great tool and there may be a few words I have learned to not misspell.  But it still surprises me that I seem to trip over words I know I used to spell correctly without thought.

Actually, I have done that too.  It's not always right and I will go and Google something that seems questionable and "Add" it to the dictionary.

No, not rteally. The problem is I am losing cvoordintaion and It type things like "yopu" because I hit two keys at a time. Another big problem is this srupid gaming keybaord for which I pai 90 bux and the R key looks very similatr to the T key. A few weeks after I bought it, I learned that I can get a reconditioned IBM 101-key keyboard for 150 bux. I am lilkely to buy one of those if this one gives me any more trouble.

I have the same issue.  I type too fast and hit keys I don't mean to hit.  My typos without spellcheck and proofreading would be horrendous.

  • "No" ... I think the language took care of that long before "spell checkers!"
