As in would it bother you more if it was the same gender or opposite gender examining you, or does it not make a difference to you one way or the other?
I’m a male and have always had a male Dr. Though I know some do have the opposite gender, depending on their family Dr. and such. To me it would feel way more awkward if it’s a female Dr.
For answering this question, I had to consult with my wife merely to get the proper timeline correct.
As a family, my wife and I selected a female doctor as our primary physician over 21 years ago. Then, when I reached the age at which men are recommended to begin getting annual prostate exams, that doctor has been the only person who has performed them on me. It’s not a lie to say that I’ve become accustomed to her touch, and I can’t imagine straying from her to have anyone else do it, ESPECIALLY not some big-knuckled, hairy-wristed, sausage-fingered man. Also, my overall health and my constant state of above-average physical fitness have resulted in the only requirement I have for seeing her is a yearly physical. My wife sees her more than I do.
Now to backtrack. We chose this particular physician for a variety of reasons, mostly due to what she has in common with my wife. They are both of the same gender and ethnicity and nationality and approximate age, etc., factors that make it easier for my wife to be comfortable with the person providing her medical care.

Be right there. Let’s make it an entire weekend. I like the thorough method. (Cough, cough.)

I had had a male doctor for all of my life up to a few years ago when the last one I had retired. I had been perfectly comfortable with him or so I thought because I’d not had a female doctor before. A female doctor took over his practice and I stayed on with her and I much prefer having a female doctor now that I’ve had the comparison.
Mostly I just like that I don’t have to have a nurse in watching the doctor when I’m getting a physical. I didn’t realize that this only a thing when a male doctor is examining a female that they need to have someone else in the room. Didn’t really care for the audience during the exams lol.
Wait, does that mean I’m no longer invited to watch? Oh, you didn’t know I’ve been watching? Er, um, sorry I said anything, please forget what you’ve just heard and go about your appointments as usual.
RANDY D IS NOT WATCHING YOU WHEN YOU‘RE GETTING EXAMINED BY YOUR DOCTOR. THIS HAS ALL BEEN A DREAM, GO BACK TO SLEEP, RANDY D IS NOT WATCHING YOU WHEN YOU‘RE GETTING EXAMINED BY YOUR DOCTOR. THIS HAS ALL BEEN A DREAM, GO BACK TO SLEEP, RANDY D IS NOT WATCHING YOU WHEN YOU‘RE GETTING EXAMINED BY YOUR DOCTOR.
