It depends on how that money is earned.  If that person was wealthy before becoming a government official, there's no reason why he should forfeit his earnings unless there is a conflict of interest.  In that case, his holdings should be put into a blind trust in compliance with ethical regulations.

This is money being paid by the taxpayer to this person annually. Not an inheritance or money from their private life.

In what capacity is this money being paid and to whom?  Your question needs some clarification.

NO government official is worth $8 mil/yr. (salary).   There is nothing they can do that would justify getting paid that much (salary).  All government officials are paid from taxpayer money, and a vast majority of them don’t make that much.

The only justification here would be IF that person is making/saving the govt. more money. However, the U.S. govt. is not in the business of making money.

First of all, no, this person should not get paid 8 million dollars a year. The average taxpayer already pays too much so they shouldn't be forced to fund this person's opulent lifestyle. Also, if this federal employee you speak of is the president of the TVA, there is a bipartisan drive to give him a substantial pay cut. There are also others within the TVA that are paid much higher than normal salaries. So it would seem that their business, as usual, good ole boy lifestyle is coming to an end.

Yes that is who I am talking about.  I understand a couple of members of the board have been removed as well.

I'm glad they have been removed. They need to continue to weed out these people and replace them with someone that actually cares about this country and its citizens.
