    Having seen Under Siege and watching Steven Seagal's character use a microwave to make a bomb, it may be a good idea.

    But as a practical matter, I let it "beep" unless my wife is still asleep when I'm heating something..

    I open it when it beeps. Sometimes more than once. I'm not always right at the microwave while it's going. I multitask with small stuff til it beeps.
