My parents debts will not roll down to me. Neither will mine.

Life insurance would cover balance of the mortgage if they wanted.

I'm out of debt, but what's killing me is my credit history. All of those derogatory remarks left there for the next 7 years.

You can dispute them online or just call the company. Normally they will remove it.

OK so a personal story, this site's anonymous right? And you are all like family...

So, my mother was never good with money, she always borrowed, never paid it off and said, well if they are silly enough to lend it to me...

So when she died, I found she was over £20k in debt.. She had not expected to die, but had always spoken about death and had told me that should she die, I was not to pay off any of her debts. I remembered this.. and followed her wishes. It wasn't hard as she didn't have any money to pay off those debts and I didn't either!

The only debt I have is the mortgage and we're giving the house to my wife's daughter. There will not even be funeral expenses as we are both donating our bods to a teaching hospital.

It's important to me that not only are my children not left with any kind of financial burden from my death, but also that they're comforted, if only a bit, by some measure of financial benefit.

Er, um, is there any way I can also be penciled in as a beneficiary?  You know how much you love me.
