The the orginal SARS was a Coronavirus. It was called SARS-CoV-1. This virus is SARS-CoV-2.
It is SARS-2. This is part of the reason scientists have been able to move so quickly on a vaccine. They had a jump start on the research.

Flu is a Coronavirus. It's also why an effective vaccine has still eluded scientists - viruses mutate so rapidly. Even the influenza vaccine is frustratingly narrow in scope, so they're only guessing which particular flu bug will bite you.

No the Flu is not caused by a cornavirus. The Flu is caused by influenza viruses. This SARS-2 virus does not mutant anything close to how fast influenza viruses mutate.

Correction - the COMMON COLD is frequently caused by coronaviruses- HCoV-229E, HCoV-NL63, HCoV-OC43 and HCoV-HKU1 among them. They actually have absolutely no idea how fast SARS-2 can mutate, or even if it does, yet. Not enough is known about it. And even if an effective vaccine is developed, and soon, its safety cannot be assured in less than 12 months - clinical trials generally take longer than that and the most promising lead thus far (developed at Oxford University) turned out not to be, inducing moderate to severe side effects in some subjects. Back to the drawing board.
Yes, common cold is a cornavirus. It is bot SARS though.
SARS2 has been around for 9 months now...scientists would know if it was mutating as often as the flu or cold does. It is good that they have not seen this so far. Thank God that it is not as deadly as the original SARS.
By the numbers. SARS-1 saw a total of 8,437 reported cases and 813 deaths globally. As of now, SARS-2 has seen 29,323,247 cases and 929,444 fatalities and it isn't even close to over yet.
