When's the last time you experienced joy?

  • Several times today.

    Climbed Wollumbin.

    On the way,

tamarind and lily-pily drop bright fruits to soil,

strangler figs climb ladders to the sky,

rays slant down from dappled canopy,

    granite giants wear green

moss flowers edged in lime light,

and whip bird voices puncture the air.

  • That would be..... last Thursday, when baby scans at 20 weeks showed no problems with my grandchild to be.  No info on gender yet, as the modest thing had it's legs crossed.

first time I ever saw Ray Nagin on the news during Katrina.......HOLY COW what a hot lookin' guy!  - swoon - sigh -

When I bought my very first Mickey Mouse watch, at the age of 30......

When I first saw Marilyn Monroe in 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes' when I was 11......sat thru it twice as I couldn't take my eyes off her......been that way ever since........

Reading Marcel Proust for the first time....for those who may not be familiar, he's a famous French author who wrote a novel that is SIX VOLUMES LONG........"In Search of Lost Time'.......the older translation of the title was "Rembrance of Things Past['........I saw it at the library, heard a lot about it....so picked up one of the volumes at random; it fell open to the start of a chapter; I read the ONE paragraph and couldn't stop!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Since then I've owned all of the different translations........truly a masterpiece, but sadly not to everyone's taste......but to me that was literary joy!!!

any time I can eat cherry pie, COLD and not warmed up.....(ugh!)

Sitting in the front seat of my very first car, a brand new 1967 Opel Kadette.......I was scared to death of having to make car payments, and my wonderful boss at the time said..'you pay your rent every month, don't you? and buy groceries every week?..well, it's just one more thing to pay for...no big deal."......

and I better stop as I DO tend to run on and on!!!!!!!

    :-D

    LOL

  • Joy is a big word. In my case, it would probably be closer to heightened amusement.

I dated her for a few months back when I was single, so it's been a couple of decades at least.  (By the way, she doesn't like it when people shorten her name to "Joy"; she goes by Joyce.)

I'm taking care of my friend's dog.  He is a JOY.  I love the Bruiser.  He is a little tiny dog.  He is so pleasant to have around that I just love his company.   Very mellow and very friendly to everyone.

The little things get me going.

  • When my little grandson told me he wanted to stay with us and not go back to his house.  I know that's silly, but at least I know he enjoys being with my husband and I .. and that's means a lot.
