Even if not published, that is quite an accomplishment!!

I used to write more, but I'm too imagination-challenged for fiction.

I think fiction is harder than writing about true even or things you've gone through.

    Definitely. That's hard, too, though.

I'm currently working on the Failure Trilogy. It's an audio book on my head.

That sounds fantastic. Can I borrow it when you're finished?

I've written many books.  Nothing published, however.

That's quite a feat, published or not. Kudos!

  • I've completed one novel and written 230,000 words of a second one (but have not finished). I have plans for a third and fourth.

Did a series of children's books, "The Blobs", similar to Roger Hargraves' "Mr Men", when I was still a pre-teen. Closest I've got as an adult was a 100,000-word thesis, Sprinkling of Babies is a Scandalous Waste of Water.

    Your thesis sounds entertaining!

Congratulations to you on your children's books!

A treatise on the futility of infant baptism - my degree is in theology.

So I gathered! Well, I gathered the gist of the thesis. I wondered about theology. That surprises me, based on my observations here.

Not that I'm a Randy D (stalker) or anything.

Why is my name uttered in relation to something so negative?  Grrrrrrr.

Yes. When “modern” technology was transitioning from word processors to floppy disks to blogs, I began writing a novel of erotic fiction on my desktop computer. It was the only computer in the house, and our children were young at the time and sometimes used the computer for homework assignments, so I had my novel password protected in order that they wouldn’t stumble across it. I finished several chapters of the tale, and I guess the whole thing can be considered to be about 90% complete, really just needing a final couple of chapters. I reread and proofread and edited and rewrote and added content and took out content and moved chapters around so intensely that I believe it’s a really good, enthralling and captivating story. I was really proud of the character development, backstory, intrigue, plot twists and detailed imagery that I incorporated into it.
Fast-forward about a year or two later to the laptop computer phase, which I bought, and began to use the desktop computer less and less.  Life went on, and when I sat back down one day to fire up the old desktop, I realized that I couldn’t remember the password to my story. That’s not an uncommon occurrence with me; I forget passwords all the time. i took the tower to at least one computer shop to see if they could help, no joy. I’ve been told that I need to find and pay a hacker to get into it for me, a step I haven’t taken.
It‘s been a decade now, the desktop tower is gathering dust in the garage, my breakthrough novel locked inside its innards. I haven't  even thought about it in at least that amount of time, so much so that at first I was going to answer this question with a resounding one-word reply: “no”.  See what you made me do?

      P. S. I have always loved that Elvis Costello song in your description field!

Me, too!! Costello is so much better than Presley, IMO.

You're welcome and congrats on your near accomplishment! :)

Don't tell me you don't have connections in the hacker universe, Randy! I'm not buying it.

I'm not sure about an entire erotic novel, though. I think collections of short stories are usually better received when it comes to that genre for pretty obvious reasons.

You‘re right; I can’t keep it bottled bottled up forever, that would be like depriving the world of something beautiful!

Yes, I attempted to write my life story many, many moons ago.  Wrote 2-3 pages, it was way too emotional.  I knew then if it would ever get written, someone else would have to do it. Now I believe it is better just buried in the past.  It is dead and gone, no point in breathing life into such an awful time that is forgotten.
